m: “Oh My Friend”; Producer: Dil Raju; Direction: Venu Sriram; Music: Rahulraj; Cast: Siddharth, Shruti Haasan, Navadeep, Hansika, Thanikella Bharani, Ali and others; Rating: **1/2
After a gap of five years, actor Siddharth and producer Dil Raju have teamed up again in “Oh My Friend”. Earlier, Raju had produced “Bommarillu”, starring Siddharth and Genelia D’Souza, and it was a super-hit. Naturally, this venture was running high on expectations and with Siddharth sharing screen space with his alleged girlfriend Shruti Hassan, the film had already generated a lot of hype, much before its release.
Alas, a cliched plot fails to create interest in the film, but technical values and some powerful performances clearly hold the key.
“Oh My Friend” does not boast of any fresh story or innovative narration. Like any other Telugu film made with some good production value, this film also has soothing music and fantastic visuals to leave the audience with a happy smile. And not-to-forget natural performances of Siddharth and Shruti – the two have lived up to the audience expectations.
But what is irritating in the film is its slow narration and the fact that screenplay of the film is too stale and predictable. Also, the film leaves you with a sense of deja vu, and reminds you of previous Telugu films – Chiranjeevi’s “Idhdharu Mithralu” and Venkatesh’s “Vasantham”.a

On September 24, 2011 Siddharth had tweeted, "In other news, 'Oh my friend' is almost done filming. Starting my tamil-telugu bilingual with Y Not studios. Super excited:) new beginnings!"
Vijay K Chakravarthy is the cinematographer and Rahul Raj has composed the music for this film.
Actors Siddharth and Shruti Haasan play the lead in the upcoming Telugu movie Oh My Friend.
Oh My Friend is written and directed by debutant Venu Sriram and produced by 'Dil' Raju, Shirish and Laxman.
According to reports, Oh My Friend is the real life account of director Venu Sriram's college days.
The shooting of the movie has been completed recently and post production work is in progress in Hyderabad.
Earlier, Amrita Rao was signed for the movie, but she was later replaced by Shruti Haasan.
Hansika Motwani plays the second lead on the movie.
Reports say that upcoming starlet and actor Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan is turning out to be quite expensive for her producers. The talented Shruti had already debuted as actress in Bollywood and Tollywood with not much success and is now trying out her luck in Tamil by debuting as Suriya’s heroine in director A.R. Murugadoss’ upcoming film ‘7aam Arivu’.
It is said that the producer is made to cough up Rs.60,000 for a day’s expenses for Shruti Haasan as she comes along with her entourage. Her costumer, touch-up artiste, make-up women and car driver are all to be paid off hefty sums by the producers for each day till the schedule is completed.
Most of the leading actresses get their fee including the allowances to be paid to their personal attendants like make-up artistes. Shruti, however, dares to be different and makes the director bear the burden of taking care of her assistants. A rough estimate puts these expenses alone at Rs.60 lakhs! (KT)
