Social media seems more important than ever for the success of endeavors, and that includes movies, including highly hyped ones like the Dec. 2012 "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." Fans have been treated to incremental behind-the-scenes videos on Facebook for almost a year, and on Tuesday night, almost precisely a decade after the first "Lord of the Rings" movie was released, the first "The Hobbit" trailer was released on Facebook, as well.
The Facebook page has been used to tease the film, which will release in two parts, "The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey" in Dec. 2012, and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" in Dec. 2013. Since February, the film's marketers have been using Facebook to connect with fans, adding content there that could easily have been saved for extras on DVD or Blu-ray, such as pictures, production videos and Q&A's.
"The Hobbit" is actually the prequel to the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. In it, Bilbo Baggins goes on a quest to recover dwarven treasure with Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) his band of twelve Dwarf warriors. Their target: the dragon Smaug.
As part of the quest, however, Baggins acquires both the Elvish blade Sting and the One Ring, which becomes key to the LOTR saga, and which is eventually given to Frodo, Bilbo's nephew.
Many of the actors from the LOTR trilogy will reprise their roles, including Sir Ian McKellen as the wizard Galdalf the Grey, Elijah Wood as Frodo, and Andy Serkis as Gollum. Many of these, though not Gandalf or Gollum, will be small roles.
So it’s official. Invitations are being sent to close family friends for Imran Khan’s marriage to Avantika Malik.The actor will tie the knot with his fiancee on January 8 next year at Karjat where the Maliks have a farmhouse.
The couple was engaged at the same location on January 15 this year. Says a source, “Though the wedding is two months away, preparations are in full swing. Close friends on the guest list were sent SMSes and told over the phone to keep themselves free on January 8 from 5 pm to 5am. The message stated that a formal invite and the wedding card would follow later.”
The invitations were sent out on Diwali. “Diwali is considered an auspicious time to start inviting for marriages,” the source says. “The Maliks are planning a dusk to dawn bash for the wedding.”
Aamir Khan’s celebrity nephew’s engagement began with a brunch followed by the ceremony and dinner in the evening. As a special gift on the occasion, Imran had gifted Avantika a Volkswagen Beetle.
The engagement invitation was in the shape of a metal box with a bottle full of sand. The invite has been rolled into the bottle.
Ever since his Bollywood debut in 2008 with ‘Jaane Tu’, Imran has always been open about his relationship with Avantika.
Veteran actor-producer Krishnam Raju is reported to be making a film titled Mass Raja starring Ravi Teja and will be directed by Gopichand Malineni who recently gave the hit film Don Seenu. The film will be produced under the banner of Gopikrishna Movies.
Krishnam Raju will also make another film titled Rebel which will star his nephew Prabhas. More details about these two projects are awaited.
Sai Dharam Tej, nephew of Chiranjeevi, is all set to make his debut as hero. Producer-director YVS Chowdary will launch this scion of Chiranjeevi clan under his banner Bommarillu. YVS is credited with launching Ram with Devadasu.
YVS is presently busy with the script for the film and sources say the film will feature many new faces including the heroine. An official announcement is expected during the festival season
The 21-year-old daughter of superstar Shruti Hasan, the beautiful and talented daughter of two powerhouse performers Kamal Haasan and actor Sarika is obviously proud, even grateful for her genes.Shruti Hassan, daughter of actors Kamal Hassan and Sarika, will make her debut opposite Imraan Khan, actor and producer Aamir Khan's nephew in Ashtavinayak Production's 'Luck', a multi-gazing film will be directed by Soham Shah.
Sonam Kapoor has been hit by typhoid. She will be out of action for around three weeks. A source close to Sonam says, "After she came back from her US holiday and her Thank You shoot, Sonam became extremely unwell. She was diagnosed as having typhoid and was advised complete bed rest for 20 days by her doctor." Apparently, Sonam was asked to walk the ramp for Manish Malhotra (she had acted in his nephew’s directorial debut I Hate Luv Storys) during the Lakme Fashion Week but had to cancel because of her illness. The source retorts, "Sonam was not to walk the ramp but simply attend LFW. In fact, she had to cancel a few work commitments including an endorsement event because of her ailment. She couldn’t go to Delhi or shoot for Thank You. She’s resting at home and can’t attend anything."Sonam says, "I was never going to walk the ramp for Manish. I was down with typhoid but am better now."
Thje super sexy Kareena Kapoor wants to be well-rounded again. Well, she has recovered from her ‘Size Zero’ frenzy I guess. The actress, who was quite healthy as a teenager, once again wants to get back those curves, which she shed during the making of ‘Tashan’.
The actress, who is shooting ‘Golmaal 3’ in Hyderabad, revealed that, “For once, things are the exact opposite for the two of us. Lolo (Karisma) is trying to lose her post natal fat; and I’m trying to put on a little weight.”
“I want to be perfectly rounded. I’m bored of being too thin. And I actually enjoy eating at a neighbourhood café,” Kareena said.
Bebo is also missing her family like hell. “God I’m missing Mumbai and I’m missing spending time with Lolo and my nephew,” she said.
