Google Plus continues to get more open bit by bit, and just today made the service available to teens age 13 and up. Previously, Google Plus was restricted to people 18 and up. Along with the wave of new teenagers, Google Plus is also getting new privacy and security features--a fairly important thing if the service is to become something parents encourage their children to use.
Google is probably doing the slow rollout on purpose. This is their third or fourth wave of opening the service up. Each time it's followed by new statistics on membership, and this time will be no different. Millions of teens are going to sign up in the near future.
Google Plus Opens To Teens
Google Plus is now open to everyone 13 and up, and I'm guessing there will be plenty of takers.
This kind of news should be music to a video marketer's ears, because teenagers are among the most avid video consumers. They're also much more prone to social activity, with most of today's teenagers having grown up with mobile devices, Facebook, and Twitter.
The influx of teenagers 13 and up to Google Plus means the demographic will change almost overnight. It should also make Google Plus a more attractive social video marketing tool for brands and businesses--particularly those that create content known to appeal to teenagers: I'm thinking about action-oriented brands like Go Pro and Red Bull, music videos and music industry brands, movie trailers, etc.
"There's a storm coming. You and your friends better batten down the hatches. Because when it hits you're all going to wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us."
If that sounds like something out of the mouth of an "Occupy Wall Street" member, you'd be right --- and wrong. It's actually something Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman, says to Bruce Wayne as they dance in the latest "Dark Knight Rises" trailer. The only difference between what was actually said and the above quote is that the words "Mr. Wayne" were inserted at the end of the first sentence.
The new "Dark Knight Rises" trailer hit Apple's iTunes movie trailer site over the weekend. While some shakycam footage appeared on YouTube as well, recorded from the "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" limited release showings, nothing official was anywhere but iTunes.
Now, as of Monday, we've now got versions on YouTube that are labeled "official." We assume that means that DC Comics, Warner Bros., and director Christopher Nolan aren't going to pull the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer off most people's video sharing site of choice.
The iTunes Movie Trailers site is frequently blessed with short-lived exclusives. In this case, the slightly more than two minute "Dark Knight Rises" trailer was shown at non-IMAX "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" showings. Those who saw the MI movie at an IMAX theater were shown the first six minutes of the actual "Dark Knight Rises" film.
It's the last of the Christian Bale Batman movies, and its primary villain is Bane, a criminal juiced up on a chemical called Venom that gives him superhuman strength, and makes him more than a match for Batman, despite Batman's martial arts skill.
In the comics, Venom breaks Batman's back. In the film, odds are that will happen as well; the sequence with the cane near the start of the trailer points in that direction.
"The Dark Knight Rises" opens in theaters on July 20, 2012.

was a day when three new and very different movie trailers were launched: Rascals, a comedy, Tell Me O Khuda, a drama, and Soundtrack, a dark and gritty film.
Director David Dhavan is back doing what he does best. The king of comedy has directed an out-and-out-comedy in Rascals starring Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn.
Amitabh Bachchan came to unveil the first look of Rascals at PVR Juhu, a multiplex in suburban Mumbai, even as controversies continue to swirl round his film Aarakshan that released today. Amitabh readily agreed to be a part of this promotional activity after a phone call from Sanjay Dutt.
Aarakshan Movie Review: A lot has already been said and heard about Aarakshan, thanks to the number of controversies it had to combat to hit the screens. So, when the movie opens with Saif Ali Khan being ridiculed for hailing from a lower caste in a college interview, Prakash Jha hits the nail in its head without wasting anytime. However, as the movie proceeds, the roller coaster drama takes a preachy turn, and a few speed breakers disappoint.
Aarakshan is the story of Prabhakar Anand [Amitabh Bachchan], principle of a private college in Bhopal since past 30 years, who swears by his ethics and fights for them all through the movie. Other characters in the movie include Tanvi Azmi his doting wife, his daughter Poorbi [Deepika], who is also the love interest of his dear and obedient disciple Deepak Kumar [Saif Ali Khan] and Sushant [Prateik Babbar] Poorbi and Deepak’s friend.
Talk about characters and it won’t be exaggeration to say that Aarakshan belongs to Big B. Tanvi calls him the ‘real hero’ in the movie and so do we believe! Watch him during the resignation scene. Saif Ali Khan has done a remarkable job as a dalit – a character that is quite contrary to the suave and refined Saif in real life.
So, grab your tub of pop-corn for you’ll need energy to sit through the long movie and do an ‘Aarakshan’ for your seat for Aarakshan – there’s no harm in watching it once!
Would love to hear from you...how many stars you would give to Prakash Jha's Aarakshan? Before we leave would like to ask you, do you support the idea of banning the movie in UP & few other states?
