Shakeela and Bhuvaneswari in Pachchai Niramae Rojakkal
August 31, 2011
In what can be termed as a ‘dream combination’, Shakeela, the ‘unofficial’ queen of Indian B-Grade film industry, is all set to star together with Bhuvaneswari, an actress who had been arrested by the police some time back on charges of indulging in flesh trade. The proposed film would have its own doses of ‘(s)exiting sequences’, it is reported.
Shakeela’s rein in the Malayalam film industry was so complete a decade back; so much so that even the leading megastars of Malayalam films found it difficult to face up to the ‘Shakeela’ challenge at the box-office. In Shakeela’s heydays as the ‘queen’ of Malayalam soft-porn movies, the leading ‘superstars’ would always try to ensure that the release of their films don’t clash with that of the release of Shakeela’s movies as they knew they stood very little chance of faring well.
The (middle)aged Shakeela has since taken ‘VRS’ from starring in porn films after sensing that she was getting past the age of (s)exposing. She then moved back to doing comedy roles Tamil films, a place where she started her career as a child. She had starred alongside the legendary MGR in one his super-hit movies ‘Enga Veettu Pillai’ as his sister’s daughter.
Bhuvaneswari, on the other hand, was arrested a couple of years back on charges of indulging in ‘prostitution’ and had been to jail and back. After serving the prison term, Bhuvaneswari shifted her base to Telugu films. The film starring the two has been named as ‘Pachchai Niramae Rojakkal’ with the tag ‘Fire has broken out’ (Neruppu Pathikichu).
As a senior artiste, obviously, Shakeela would have more footage in the film which would have liberal doses of ‘sexy and steamy sequences’. Bhuvaneswari’s role, though inferior to Shakeela’s, is also a powerful one, it is reported. Shakeel and Bhuvaneswari have starred in at lease three and one ‘very exciting and exposing sequences’, it is further informed.
Wonder what the Censors would have to say to that? (KT)
Mamta while speaking to the media said, “I am pairing with Arun Vijay in the film Thadaiyara Thaaka directed by Magizh. Prachi Desai was supposed to do this role. She walked out of the film. I don’t know the reason for leaving this film.

When they were deciding who should be casted in her place, it seems the director was considering me, I was acting in a Malayalam film. Since the shooting of the film was postponed by a month’s time, I was able to give call sheet immediately. People are spreading rumours that I will not act in Tamil films any more. I have not decided anything like that. I have acted earlier in Tamil films Sivappathigaram and Guru En Aaalu with popular heroes. But my stills were missing in the posters of these films.
The directors have purposely blacked out me. I came to know about this later when some people told me about this. Moreover they said they were guiding me and tarnished my image. I don’t want to speak about this bitter experience now.”
Actress Khushbu, who was shooting in Cochin with Dileep for her Malayalam film, Mr Marumakan, sustained fracture on her left leg and was admitted to a hospital there recently.
A source present on the set says, "Khushbu plays Dileep's mother-in-law in the film, which has her paired opposite Bhagyaraj. She was shooting a song sequence, which required her to hum the lines and climb down a staircase. But unfortunately, the set collapsed and she was caught by surprise. Unable to regain her balance, Khushbu slipped and fell from the staircase. She sprained her leg muscles and sustained a fracture on her left leg and was immediately rushed to a hospital there. She's now in bed rest."
The source adds, "The shooting of the film has been put on hold for two weeks. However, Khushbu will be in Cochin for those two weeks. Her husband and actor-director Sundar C
"I am interested in this team and to that extend, we are having a business meeting to take forward our interest in acquiring stake in Kochi Tuskers. The first meeting is to take place in Mumbai on the 22nd of this month," Priyadarshan told us.
Priyadarshan, who is the newly appointed chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (Motion Picture Academy of the Kerala State), added: "It is basically my friends who are not in the film industry. Yes, we are serious in this, but then it depends on things like what is going to be the money involved and also the returns associated with it."
Cricket has been a passion for him since childhood, he says.
Priyadarshan was also roped in to direct the promo video of Kochi Tuskers when the team got the green signal to be one of the two new teams along with Pune Warriors for the fourth edition of the IPL.
The acclaimed director, who shifted to Bollywood after a successful run in the south, was circumspect about speaking on his innings as the Kerala film academy chief.
"It is just a day since I took over as the chairman and I am not going to make any claims about what I will do as chairman and what I won't. I will speak after I see for myself how the system in the academy works," said the director, who is busy finishing his first Malayalam film in eight years.
And not surprisingly he has teamed up with his lucky charm, superstar Mohanlal, in the comedy flick 'Arabyium, Ottakavum P. Madhavan Nairum', which is slated for release on October 26.
Bodyguard the Telugu remake of the Malayalam film by the same name is fast progressing. The film has Victory Venkatesh as its hero. Trisha and Saloni are its heroines. And music is by Thaman.
The film remade as Kaavalan in Tamil with Vijaya as hero hit the box-office bullseye and helped Vijay to revive his then falling market in Tamil. The film portrayed Vijay in his soft romantic hero avatar and thus came as a relief from his earlier action movies. Asin was paired opposite him. Bodyguard is also being made in Hindi with superstar Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
Now understanding its box-office value, Venkatesh has taken up the project in Telugu with Gopichand Malineni (director of Don Seenu) as its director. Let us see if the film does well in Tollywood!

All of us are aware of the fact that actress Sonia Agarwal has started her second innings in the world of films. This second innings is because of the recent breakup with director Selvaraghavan. After her marriage with the director Selvaraghavan she had stopped acting in films.
She is now ready and back but prefer to act in movies that are directed by Bala and Gowtham menon alone. She is now getting more offers from Tamil and Malayalam film producers but at the moment this actress is very choosy in selecting the roles.
She wants to choose the right role and feels that if Bala or Gowtham menon can offer her a role in their forthcoming film there is nothing better than that. Her choice of acting in film is not restricted to the south Indian film industry alone. She is keen and looking forward to act in Hindi films too that are directed by Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap too. Her role in Vaanam was a small one although she performed to the best of her ability.
This pretty damsel was the darling of the Tamil film industry some years back .After her divorce, this actress has come back with great vigour and confidence. Looks like the actress is busy listening to interesting scripts and is choosy in selecting good roles that can help her create the impact in the mind of the audience.
She had agreed to do the role in vanaam as she found it really interesting. She feels that movies are her passion and she really enjoys working in south Indian films, especially in Tamil Films. She says that even today there are so many offers that have flooded her. She is trying hard to pick the right role. She feels that quality is the most important aspect for success and there are no short cuts to climb on top of the ladder.
There is also an alleged link-up rumour with Kannada actor Sudeep which is denied by this actress. She says that they are good friends and have been in contact with him for a long time now. Of course they meet some times at the shooting spots or other celebrity parties. She confirms that there is nothing more than this in her relationship. Whether this actress accepts it or not they were also seen at the Celebrity League match. Well, not sure if there is something that is cooking between them. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
