Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Dubai, IMAX ,the Action Movie ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’

21 December, 2011 (18:25) | Bollywood Gossips, Songs and Music | By: Ali

Ethan Hunt and the IMF are back and bigger than ever in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." For the fourth go around, Tom Cruise makes the jump to IMAX screens and makes it worth while. If you do go see "Ghost Protocol," be sure to seek out IMAX showings. It's the way the film was meant to be seen.

Here are five more reasons why you should initiate "Ghost Protocol" this week.

Dubai
You may have seen glimpses of the scene in the trailers and posters, but there is nothing quite like seeing it on screen. There has been a welcome return to practical stunts in recent years, and there are few examples of fantastic stunt-work quite like this. The scene doesn't work simply because of the spectacle of Tom Cruise scaling the Burj Khalifa. Brad Bird structures and shoots it with such skill that keeps the suspense high throughout the scene. We care that Tom Cruise is scaling the Burj Khalifa. We're captivated right until the very end, and they punctuate it with a perfect comedic note, thanks to one man.

Simon Pegg
An action movie's comic relief rarely rises above the minimum demands of his or her carefully calculated role. It takes unique comedic timing to leave any kind of impression beyond the occasional chuckle. Here, Simon Pegg goes above and beyond the call of the comic relief. His smart, sometimes hilarious turn as Benji earns his place in the movie instead of being an obligation of the plot. It takes a lot of talent to elevate this type of role, and Pegg not only does that, but he nearly steals the movie in the process.

IMAX
In a perfect world, the push from "Ghost Protocol" and July's "The Dark Knight Rises" would begin an all out format war between 3D and IMAX. Both drive tickets sales up, but only one enhances the movie going experience. If studios continue to look for new ways to coax people into theaters, which they always will do, IMAX is the way to do it, and not a simple up-conversion to 70mm. The proof is on the screen. Bird shot several key action sequences in the large print format, and the results make one hell of an argument for the survival of theaters. There is just no comparison.

Tom Cruise
My friend put it best. Some actors use their crazier sides for evil. (See: Mel Gibson.) Others use them for good. Like Daniel Day Lewis, the idiosyncrasies of Tom Cruise's personality have only positive effects for his audiences. Sure, he may jump on Oprah's couch once in a while, but he's also willing to put himself outside the Burj Khalifa and climb it for our amusement. Say what you will about his personal life, the man is dedicated to spectacle, and he's fun to watch. There's a reason Cruise has been around as long as he has been, and he'll be around for years to come for those same reasons.

Return of the Action Movie
There is something highly comforting about sitting in the dark, staring at a screen bigger than most and just enjoying yourself. "Ghost Protocol" delivers in almost every major action movie category. Yes, the story doesn't always make much sense. If you think about it in any deeper terms than it's given to you, you'll fall into a deep, deep hole, but Cruise delivers the action and Pegg delivers the laughs. With a stellar supporting cast including Paula Patton, Jeremy Renner and the terribly underused Josh Holloway, "Ghost Protocol" offers more than it needs to, but that's what has been missing from large scale action movies outside of "Inception."

‘Dark Knight Rises’ trailer: Bruce Wayne is the One Percent

19 December, 2011 (22:13) | Songs and Music, Technology News | By: Technology Expert

"There's a storm coming. You and your friends better batten down the hatches. Because when it hits you're all going to wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us."

If that sounds like something out of the mouth of an "Occupy Wall Street" member, you'd be right --- and wrong. It's actually something Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman, says to Bruce Wayne as they dance in the latest "Dark Knight Rises" trailer. The only difference between what was actually said and the above quote is that the words "Mr. Wayne" were inserted at the end of the first sentence.

The new "Dark Knight Rises" trailer hit Apple's iTunes movie trailer site over the weekend. While some shakycam footage appeared on YouTube as well, recorded from the "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" limited release showings, nothing official was anywhere but iTunes.

Now, as of Monday, we've now got versions on YouTube that are labeled "official." We assume that means that DC Comics, Warner Bros., and director Christopher Nolan aren't going to pull the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer off most people's video sharing site of choice.

The iTunes Movie Trailers site is frequently blessed with short-lived exclusives. In this case, the slightly more than two minute "Dark Knight Rises" trailer was shown at non-IMAX "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" showings. Those who saw the MI movie at an IMAX theater were shown the first six minutes of the actual "Dark Knight Rises" film.

It's the last of the Christian Bale Batman movies, and its primary villain is Bane, a criminal juiced up on a chemical called Venom that gives him superhuman strength, and makes him more than a match for Batman, despite Batman's martial arts skill.

In the comics, Venom breaks Batman's back. In the film, odds are that will happen as well; the sequence with the cane near the start of the trailer points in that direction.

"The Dark Knight Rises" opens in theaters on July 20, 2012.

Dark Knight Rises prologue–scheduled for release before Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

10 December, 2011 (13:03) | Bollywood Gossips, Songs and Music | By: Ali

Following up on yesterday's sort of meaningless beginning of a viral campaign, The Dark Knight Rises Twitter today supplied another piece of photocopied puzzle--and this one actually has some utility. This latest xerox repeatedly teases something called "Operation Early Bird" with a start time of 1000 hours pst, and cleverly entering OperationEarlyBird.com into your home internet machine reveals a clock ticking down to that time. It's unclear what will happen once the clock hits zero, but considering that the six-minute Dark Knight Rises prologue--scheduled for release before Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol showings next week--reportedly screened early at the Universal City's AMC IMAX last night, there's a pretty good chance it will involve a chance to see the footage early, you lucky early birds, you.

See the full photocopy below, then print it out and staple it to the others to create your very own Bat-zine.

suspected would happen, the expiration of the Dark Knight Rises "Operation Early Bird" countdown clock has revealed a map to reserve tickets for an early, Tuesday, December 13th screening of the film's long-awaited six-minute IMAX prologue. Unfortunately for those interested, the servers seem to be pretty overwhelmed as of writing this, so it may take a while before you can get the map to load. If only someone could have predicted this Batman thing would be so popular. Anyway, as for the footage, if you're wondering what to expect, those press outlets that managed to see the prologue last night have universally agreed on two points: it is pretty awesome, and also, what the fuck is Bane saying out there? While the scope and tone of the airplane-based heist sequence has, unsurprisingly, drawn comparison to both of director Christopher Nolan's last two films, the real talk of the six-minute scene was that it's apparently pretty hard to understand what Tom Hardy is saying through all that mask and Britishness. The Hollywood Reporter, for example, called Bane's dialogue "unintelligible," while ComingSoon confirmed it's "difficult to fully understand exactly what he is saying." Both descriptions agree with how wasted Bane sounded when we heard him screaming at a stadium, so that should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. (You should expect something like an English uncle slurring his way through an angry wedding toast.) Still, you

Spotify to team with Facebook: report

26 May, 2011 (07:07) | Songs and Music, Technology News | By: Technology Expert

Sources close to the deal told Forbes that Facebook and Spotify, the music streaming service that has yet to launch in the U.S. due to licensing issues. The partnership could be launched in as little as two weeks.

It's unclear yet if the service would be called "Facebook Music" or "Spotify on Facebook." What is clear is that it will only be available for Facebook users in countries where Spotify has a presence, which means no service in the United States.

In those countries, once launched, Facebook users will see a Spotify icon on the left-hand side of their newsfeed, along with the usual icons they already see.

The partnership perhaps shows why Google is concerned about Facebook. It's another expansion of Facebook's moves toward becoming a media hub. In late March, after testing with "The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. and Facebook announced a video rental partnership.

Most vital for Spotify, however, is completing its negotiations with music labels about bring its service to the U.S. This also isn't the first rumor about a strong partnership with an Internet giant with Spotify.

In late April rumors of Google partnering with Spotify due to Google's inability to sign labels to its cloud music service, but those rumors never came to fruition, obviously, since Google has launched it since then, sans licensing.
