iPad’s OS yields clues to new iProducts

The iPad has just been released, but its no secret that Apple will release a new revision of the iPhone this summer, most likely in June or July, as has been its practice. Thus, the discovery of references to new products in the iPad's iPhone OS 3.2 isn't really news, but is information.

The following has been found by those poking around in the iPad's filesystem:
  • iPhone3,2
  • iPhone3,3
  • iPod4,1
  • iProd2,1
These sorts of references don't always point to new products, but they have been clues in the past. The first two are new iPhones, perhaps a new AT&T version and the rumored Verizon version. The next one is a new iPod touch, and the last? A new iPad, but that perhaps could be the iPad with 3G connectivity, coming later in April.

Based on that suspicion, it would seem nothing above is truly new or unexpected, but the second iPhone reference does give more validity to Verizon iPhone rumors.
