Since HP's acquisition of Palm and its webOS smartphone platform, it's been known that HP planned to come out with a tablet PC using the OS. The typical unnamed sources have come forth after an all-hands meeting on Monday with some information along that vein.

$5 off orders of $89 at PocketProjectorShop.comAccording to Engadget, trusted sources said that HP's plans for the platform include a webOS tablet in Q1 of 2011. It was, in fact, former Palm CEO and current HP Senior Vice President Todd Bradley who indicated the device, project codenamed "Hurricane," would be shipped in the first quarter of 2011.

Bradley heads HP's Personal Systems Group, which absorbed Palm in July. Virtually as soon as the company acquired the troubled smartphone maker, HP announced that it would use webOS in a variety of its products, not just tablets, but also Web-enabled printers and smartphones.

You'll recall that in late July HP began proceedings to trademark the name "PalmPad," so we have to wonder if "Hurricane" = "PalmPad." We'll see in Q1 (assuming no slips in the schedule).
