CEO Says Verizon Wants the iPhone. No, Really?

No kidding? Verizon wants the iPhone? Who could have imagined such a thing?

In remarks Tuesday before the Council on Foreign Relations, Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg said the company has told Apple that it wants to carry the iPhone. He did not, however, confirm or deny earlier reports that Apple is already working on a version for Verizon.

However, earlier Seidenberg said that a Verizon version of the iPhone was more likely to appear on Verizon's 4G network (LTE) rather than its CDMA one. In fact, CDMA is a dying technology.

Currently AT&T has exclusivity on the iPhone in the United States. However, that monopoly is expected to expire this year. It's widely known that Verizon was offered the iPhone first, but turned it down.
