On Wednesday, AT&T announced their new ZERO Charger, which aims to drive a stake through the heart of vampires, power vampires that is.

The ZERO Charger, unlike others, will draw no power if a phone is not connected to them. As shown the charger has a USB connection so you can, at least implemented properly, plug just about any USB-compatible smartphone into it. That would, of course, include AT&T's flagship device, the iPhone.

Of course, anyone who's tried to swap chargers between devices know they aren't always swappable. So let's hope AT&T gets it right so that the charger is universal.

You can sign up for an email when the AT&T ZERO Charger is available, from their site. Certainly, while it's green, you can bet that AT&T hopes it will help green their bottom line, as well.
