Are Microsoft’s “Project Pink” Phones Just Updated Sidekicks?

5 March, 2010 (22:56) | Songs and Music, Technology News | By: Technology Expert

Photos of Microsoft's Project Pink smartphones have been leaked this week, and speculation as to what they really are has run rampant. After all, the source told Gizmodo the OS didn't seem to be Windows Phone 7 series. So what gives?

Now it seems the reason that the devices (the Pure and the Turtle) aren't running Windows Phone 7 series makes sense, if true: they are next-generation Danger devices, or Sidekicks, according to a report.

According to this source, the phones aren't "all that," and they will be dual-branded Microsoft and Sharp. That's similar to the Nexus One, which is dual-branded Google and HTC (though many have dubbed it the Google phone).

Mobile analyst Azita Arvani, of the Los Angeles-based Arvani Group told SeattlePI that the phones will run a version of Windows CE. Previous Sidekicks ran Java-based DangerOS. Current Sidekicks are also on T-Mobile, and Arvani said that the new ones will be on Verizon, which matches Gizmodo's source's information.

In late 2009, Microsoft's Danger division had a large SNAFU when a great deal of user data was inaccessible for weeks, with T-Mobile halting Sidekick sales for nearly two months. Let's hope there's a little more data redundancy if Sidekicks really do move to Verizon.

Bollywood stealing from Hollywood which is deficit matter for Hindi movie lovers

5 March, 2010 (17:27) | Bollywood Gossips, Songs and Music | By: Kamrul

We can hear a common accusation about Bollywood movie industry is that they copy from Hollywood. It is really a deceitful matter for Hindi movie lovers because they do not want to hear that they are stealing from Hollywood. However, if you look at the Bollywood movie industry then you can see that most of the time they depend on a script that was copied from a famous English movie. It is really pathetic. Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Teen Patti” and Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Karthik calling Karthik’ was the best example for this accusation.

Another big problem is that movie director and producers still depend on old faces that fans are not interested to see anymore. Repeating old faces is really disgusting matter. I hope that they should look for young stars who can make new trend in Bollywood. Despite the politicians announcing the 21st century as a decade of the youth we can see the repeat of the old face in Hindi movies.

However, movies like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Ishqiya’ were exception. I hope that each of the movie producers and directors will follow these traditions and take India at the top position.

Credit Cards Ready? iPad Pre-Orders Start March 12

5 March, 2010 (15:24) | Songs and Music, Technology News | By: Technology Expert

Those who want to pre-order Apple's upcoming tablet PC need to get a few things ready in the next week: credit card, mouse clicking finger, keyboard, and a fast Internet connection. Apple on Friday announced the iPad pre-ordering process will open on March 12, with first deliveries on April 3.

Interestingly, April 3 is a Saturday. This probably means those who pre-order for delivery won't get them on that day, but the following Monday, unless Apple pays for Saturday delivery, which is, in general, a lot more expensive.

On the other hand, those who pre-order can also opt to pick up an iPad in an Apple store on April 3. That, of course, raises the specter of long lines (like the iPhone line in NYC above).

It looks like fears over a long delay in the iPad introduction were incorrect. Apple had been saying "late March" and a few days isn't really a "delay" per se. Of course, there is still the possibility that the iPad, already expected, like the iPhone, to be in limited quantities in first release, will be even more limited.

That leads, of course, to the following question: will the pre-order site be able to handle the load of the surge of people trying to pre-order before they sell out?

The full Apple press release follows:
iPad Available in US on April 3

Pre-Order on March 12

CUPERTINO, California—March 5, 2010—Apple® today announced that its magical and revolutionary iPad will be available in the US on Saturday, April 3, for Wi-Fi models and in late April for Wi-Fi + 3G models. Beginning a week from today, on March 12, US customers can pre-order both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G models from Apple’s online store (www.apple.com) or reserve a Wi-Fi model to pick up on Saturday, April 3, at an Apple retail store.
