This year’s Filmfare awards saw the best acting prizes going to the lead actors in Paa, with Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan being named the Best actor and Best actress for their role in the film.
The top grosser ‘3 Idiots’ earned six trophies, including the one for the best film.
The Best actress honor went to Vidya Balan for her riveting performance in Paa as Auro’s mother.
In a witty manner Vidya gave the reply to the hosts Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan, who had earlier poked fun at her a couple of years ago for her dress sense when Shahrukh presented a trophy called the Naa-real Award to Vidya.
While accepting the award at the podium, Vidya stated, “From nariyal to this Black lady, it’s been a great journey at the Filmfare.”
Vidya further continued her spirited winning speech stating, “I thank Balki (director), my parents and Arundhati Nag. Also I would like to add that motherhood is a rewarding feeling, so I am greatly thankful to my son AuroBachchans skipped the award function
Amitabh Bachchan and his family, however, chose to skip the star-studded event as a continuation of their protests against the Mumbai Mirror, the tabloid that published false reports about Aishwarya Rai’s health conditions.
A publication that solely belongs to Filmfare, the Mumbai Mirror has been served a legal notice by the Bachchans for refusing to retract their false report. The family has also asked the tabloid for an apology.
Vidya Balan therefore collected Amitabh Bachchan’s award on his behalf.

Singers: Raghubir Yadav, Ajay Jhingran, Rajneesh, Amit Mishra and Sukhwinder Singh
Lyricist: Irshad Kamil
Music Directors: Pritam Chakraborty and Amit Mishra
The soundtrack of “Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?”, which stars Ajay Devgn and Konkana Sen Sharma, sounds more like a devotional album with three of the five songs being in praise of the almighty.
The album contains five originals and one remix.
“Aaja aaja” crooned by Raghubir Yadav, Ajay Jhingran and Rajneesh, is an amalgamation of folk influences with western orchestration. The fast-paced number is more of a situational track than something that can be hummed.
The song also has a re-mixed version, which offers nothing great and is average.
Next is the title track of the film, where Amit Mishra steps in as composer and singer. This is the song currently doing the rounds of various TV channels.
Trying to be funny with its lyrics and the way the vocals are presented, the song is a one-time hear. It’s an ordinary number with no retention value.
Up next is “Dohay”. Sung by Amit Mishra again, it is a soft version of poems and couplets written by well-known poets.
Then there is “Jyoti jalaile”, a devotional version of the hit item song “Beedi jalaile” from the film “Omkara”. This version too is sung by Sukhwinder Singh. The song is sung in praise of goddess Durga.
Finally, we have another religious offering in the guise of “Sukh Karta”, an offering to Lord Ganesh. This one too has Amit Mishra behind the mike.
On the whole, there is nothing much for music buffs in the album. The soundtrack is situational and will not boast of any chartbusters. The songs are very unlike those created by Pritam earlier.
